Phoolwanti is a serial TV telecast on Delhi Doordarshan. It featured two prominent actors Arun Govil and Archana Joglekar in the main lead. Arun Govil is married, but Archana is still in love with him. She is a dancer in the serial, does her fate unite with Arun Govil is the main plot of the serial.
The TV series was telecast in the year 1992 when even Ramayan did not appear In Doordarshan. It is said that Archana Joglekar made her debut into acting through this serial. Lata Mangeshkar had sung songs for this serial too. Archana played the lead role of Phulwanti, a Kathak dancer.
The serial had a Marathi set-up, and even dress and costumes were like a Marathi culture. When a character named Shashtriji commented on her dancing style. Archana objected it and complained to the ruler of the state. After which a competition was held, and Archana loses and stays in Shastri's house as a housemaid, and as a disciple too. The serial ends with Archana performing a dance in a temple. It was Usha Mangeshkar production venture. Arun Govil has good character. He always looked simple and played a suspicious character in the serial.
