Intezaar TV Serial - Doordarshan DD National (DD1)

Intezaar TV Serial was premiered on 18th March 1989 on Doordarshan DD National DD1. It was aired until the year 1991. The story is set in a fictional village called Kamalpura and it is said to be situated somewhere in North India. Aziz Mirza, Saeed Mirza and Kundan Shah created this 26-episode serial. There are quite a few characters in this serial. There is a tea-stall owner. Suresh Chatwal plays this character. Dilip Dhawan is in the role of the tongawala named Mangal. Javed Khan plays the role of the lazy and gossiping postman. Ajay Whadhavkar is the lineman who takes a fancy to the lady sweeper, played by Sangita Naik. Shah Rukh Khan also plays a role in the serial. This serial is a slice – of – life tale.

A mother waits for her son’s return, the tongawala dreams of buying an auto-rickshaw, a young chap from Ladakh wants to return the mountains and the other characters also wish for other things from life. The story begins with an old, disciplined station master (Rajendra Gupta plays this role). He wanted to be transferred to a quiet place so that his daughter would feel comfortable. She had tried to commit suicide and she needed time to relax. The local people of Kamalpura are filled with curiosity. They can’t think of a suitable reason why someone would leave a city like Bombay and settle in a small village like Kamalpura. The rest of the serial chronicles the lives of these local people and the new addition to their village.
