Doordarshan DD Metro or DD 2 is Doordarshan’s another Hindi Entertainment Channel for the Metro cities. The channel was initially launched as a terrestrial channel. However, it was available to a lot of cable operators in the nation. DD Metro's popularity grew over years as it started telecasting shows of various genres including serials, women-centric shows, talk shows, interviews, reality shows, comedies, etc. Besides DD Metro also broadcasted popular Hollywood movies dubbed in Hindi on holidays.



It even rose to become the most watched Entertainment channel replacing Star Plus in 2000-2001. DD Metro telecasted some of the top Entertainment programs of all time. Shows like Aaghat, Ali Baba Aur Chalis Chor, Aane Wala Pal, Baaton Baaton Mein, Byomkesh Bakshi, and Tipu Sultan are some of the must-watch programs aired by DD Metro. Bhabhi Maa is a favorite show broadcasted by DD Metro. The serial is family drama, starring talented actors like Kanwaljit Singh.

Kanwaljit Singh is a famous actor who has set his mark in not only Hindi Entertainment serials but also in Hindi and Punjabi movies. He's acted in a lot of serials. Some of the performances that stand out are as Karam Singh in Paramveer Chakra, Captain in Captain House, Satbir in Buniyad, Sagar in Bhabhi Maa and Deepak Malhotra inFamily No. 1. Bhabhi Maa also aired later on &TV under the banner of ZEE Entertainment Network. Bhabhi Maa is a show under Rashmi Sharma Telefilms.

Rashmi Sharma has been the producer of the popular daily soap Saath Nibhana Saathiya aired on Star Plus. Bhabhi Maa is a serial revolving around family values and how the failure of a single family member from withholding these values and customs can lead to a lot of issues. The story is based on the matriarch of the household Bhabhi Maa, played by Aroona Irani. How she handles all the problems arising in the family single-handedly and how she fights for the respect and honor of her family is what the show is all about.

Other notable artists including Rita Bhaduri, Ashita Dhawan Gulabani, and Anil Dhawan play major characters. The show Bhabhi Maa, however, got a new name when telecasting on &TV. The makers wanted to call it initially as Bhoomi, but ultimately it was finalized to be Bhagyalaxmi. The show aired on &TV, every Monday to Friday at 8.00 PM.
