School Days TV Serial - Doordarshan DD National (DD1)

School Days TV Serial was a Teenager Drama aired on Doordarshan DD National (DD1) in 1999. Dilip Sood has made this beautiful TV series for Doordarshan and, its viewers. “School Days” is a TV show that was made especially for the teenagers. Later, Dilip Sood also made Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar TV Serial for Doordarshan.

The story of the TV serial revolves around the lives of school going children. These students go to high school. There were many characters in the TV show playing their different parts. The names of some of the characters were Rohit, Imran, Akash, Akansha, Nikhil, Nainika Bhandare and, many more. The story of the serial begins with the first day of the school in the class 11th. The school is a modern convent school. Later in the episodes the serial majorly focuses on the different facets of the lives of students.

Starting from their feelings regarding the school to friendship, love, crushes, dreams, ambitions, teenage romance, success, competitions, relation with teachers, relation with parents and, failures. The story of the TV serial also focuses upon the cross of Indian traditional and, modern Indian values. The story had many ups and downs of a student’s life. There were fights and rivalries also among the different groups of friends in the same class. The TV show also showed how the changing culture and, westernization is having an impact on the younger lot of the society. The TV showed every aspect of the show in a dramatized manner. Everything shown in the show was kept near to reality so that the audience could relate it with them.

There were stories of the relation of friendship that prevails between the classmates, the envy that students have due to academic and non- academic competition, the relation with teachers, complying with rigid school rules and, mishaps including punishment. There were stories of first love, crushes, tried and failed attempts of making love, love letters, sharing secrets and, dreaming. Also, there were episodes where mixed balances of relations, whether due to generation gap or any other reason, took the show to its downs.

The whole team of School Days, whether actors or director or anyone related to it,would go to a slum area or the area where they shoot to clean that place. The team also took various initiatives for the society as well. The whole series of the TV show School Days was kept close to reality and, the audience enjoyed that. Dilip Sood, the director of the Doordarshan TV show, wanted the students who were going to school to connect with the show and, those who have left their school life to relate and miss their teenage time. The show has been the biggest hit of its time.
