Purab Ya Pashchim TV Serial -Doordarshan DD National (DD1)

Purab Ya Pashchim TV Serial was aired on Doordarshan's DD National (DD1) Channel in year 2008, every Thursday at 10PM. This multi star cast TV serial was focused on an NRI Family of Kanwaljeet Singh and problems at his mother land, his village in India.

The Story-line of the serial was focused around Sudhir Mitoo, who played role of NRI boy, who just came to india to meet his grand-parents: Vikram Gokhle and Renuka Israni. After coming to india he fell in love with a girl of his villages, played by muggha shah. After few episodes of romance, he realized the problems at village, such as water, education, health and agriculture. Then he decided to stay in India with his grandparents and started his mission with few peoples of village. His parents kanwaljeet Singh and Indira Krishnan also came back to India to take him back to US, but he denied. After a long struggle, he and his team got success in their task.

Purab Ya Paschim was a Hindi serial telecasted on DD1 (Doordarshan - DD National). It used to come on every Thursday at 10 pm in the year 2008. This serial dealt with an NRI who had to face many issues in his hometown, India, particularly his village. The concept, story, and research credit go to Rao Chalasani.

Kavitha Pawasker was the executive producer. Rao Chalasani produced the serial and Jai Singh directed it. The cast comprised of Vikram Gokhale, Renuka Israni, Kanwaljeet Singh, Indira Krishnan, Sudhir Mitoo, Mughdha Shah, Rakesh Pandey, Brij Gopal, Ahmed Khan, Narendra Gupta, Kishor Nandolskar, Sooraj Thapar, Jitendra Bharadwaj, Shalini Arora, Priti Mehra, Sahi Arora, Teja Devkar, Sanjeev Arora, Suhasi Goradla, Ishita Sharma, Monisha Khatwani and others.

Nawab Arzoo and Lalit Sen composed the title song and the music respectively. As stated above, the story deals with an NRI who comes to India to visit his grandparents. He and his parents were in the US. This role was done by Sudhir Mitoo. After coming back to India, he meets Mughdha Shah. She is a village girl, but very beautiful. He falls in love with her. Few episodes from here run in romance. Later, he realizes that the village had a lot of problems. There was no proper educational system and enough water for consumption.

Farmers were facing a problem because of a shortage of water for their agriculture. There were no good hospitals so many villagers had health issues. This unstructured system moved Sudhir Mitoo. So he decides to stay back in India. He formed a group to solve these problems. Then, the episodes deal with the restructuring of the village. Sudhir’s decision made his parents come back to India. They were against this idea and wanted to take back their son to the US. But, Sudhir never gives up.

After a long struggle, he and his team will succeed in their task. This serial basically deals with contributing to the society. Hundreds of problems will come in the way but, we should never fear. We need to face all the difficulties and achieve our goal. Unless we take up the initiative, no one will bring in the change in the society. So each of us needs to be more responsible and contribute to the society.

This Poorab Ya Pashchim TV Serial was inspired by Ashutosh Govarikar-Shahrukh Khan's Movie: Swadesh. Vikram Gokhale, Renuka Israni, Kanwaljeet Singh, Indira Krishnan, Sudhir Mitoo, Mughdha Shah, Rakesh Pandey, Brij Gopal, Ahmad Khan, Narendra Gupta, Kishor Nandolaskar, Sooraj Thapper, Monisha Khatwani, Jitendra Bharadwaj, Shalini Arora, Priti Mehra, Teja Devker, Sahil Arora, Sanjeev Arora, Suhasi Garodia, and Ishita Sharma played their role very well. 

The story was written by Rao Chalasani, while Sapna Bhattacharya and Rajkumar Bedi wrote its screenplay. Its Title Song "Saare Mausam Beet Gaye.." was written by Nawab arzoo, and Lalit Sen composed its music. Rao Chalasani produced this serial was directed by Jai Singh, and was enough to catch the eyeballs of viewers of DD National at that time.
