Noorjahan telecasted on DD National Channel in the year 1999, on every Wednesday at 9:30 p.m. Imtiaz Khan directed the show. The show was shot in Agra,Fatehpur Sikri, Srinagar, and Gulmarg. There are so many TV shows that portray the life of famous Kings. This time, DD National has come up with a unique concept. Their show, Noorjahan is based on the life of Mughal Queen Noorjahan. She was the twentieth however most adored, and the most imperative consort of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir.
The show Noorjahan was a romantic tale of `Mehrunnisa´ and `Salim´, displayed as a fiction, taking into account the novel ``Noorjahan´´. The writer of the novel is Jyoti Jaffa. Talat Aziz and Jaspinder Narulasung many Ghazals and Love duets for the serial. They received a lot of appreciation for their work. Later in the year 2000, the timings of the show shifted to every Thursday at 9.30 p.m. Cinevistaas produced the TV show Noorjahan. `Noor Jahan´ is the main protagonist of the show. She ruled India for over 15 Years with an iron hand. She was the wife of the Emperor of India, King Jahangir. She was a fearless woman and controlled over the reins of the Government from the year 1611 to 1627. But more than her bravery and work, Noorjahan's magnificent beauty had enraptured sentimentalists for a long time.
The show had an appealing star cast. Gauri Pradhan played the role of Noor Jahan. She is an extremely talented actress and has acted in various Indian TV shows. She became famous after her role as Nandini Virani in the soap opera Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi on Star Plus and Gauri Mittal in Kutumb. Recently she worked in the daily soap Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi aired on Colors TV. Milind Soman played the role of Salim. He is an actor, producer and fitness promoter. He has worked in many Hindi and regional films such as `Bheja Fry´, `Bajirao Mastani´, `Paiyaa´ etc.
`Puneet Issar´ played the role of `Sher-e-Afghan´. He is an experienced actor and has worked in man Indian movies and serials. He worked with Salman Khan in the movie `Garv : Pride and Honour´ and the role of `Duryodhana´ in the TV adaptation of Mahabharata. Some of the other star cast was `Mangal Dhillon´ (as Emperor Akbar), `Parikshit Sahni´ (as Mehrunissa's father), `Smita Jaykar´ (as Queen Jodha Bai), `Mrinal Kulkarni´ (as Habba Khatoon), `Krutika Desai´ (as Maan Bai), `Salil Ankola´ (as Kashmiri poet Yusuf Chak), `Maya Alagh´, and so on.
