Doordarshan National Network telecasted its show Insaaf in early 2000. Insaaf came on the air with a concept of social drama including societal evils and justice but in a modern way for its viewers. The channel telecasted the episodes of the show on a weekly basis. Jogi Dayal, Ravi Raj and, Arvind Babbal were the director of this hit social series. Siddhant Television Limited has produced the hit TV series for Doordarshan. Insaaf was a series completely based on the social issues. As per the format of the show, there were victims, social evils, crime, criminals, crime stories, pain, grief, rule, law, police and above all the fight for Insaaf (Justice). Actor Rohitash Gaud played the character of the police officer.
The episodes included number of social crimes like; property issues, court cases, murder cases, big thefts, rape, violence, law-breaking, large disputes of families, cases related to crime against children, issues of masses, curfew and, oppressions like family issues of children and parent, oppression of women, gender/ caste/ color issues, child oppression and, many more. The show showed pure emotions of pain and grief of people fighting for justice against their oppressors. Rohitash Gaud who acted as a police inspector helped the victims with their cases and, helps them in their fight for justice.
Each episode came up with a different story and different case. The show showed children torturing their parents in old age for property, wealth and money issues, husband beating their wives for dowry, mass killing in the name of caste and creed, separation of really young children from their parents due to issues in the society, richer showing their power and status in the poor section and values to fight for. The victims suffering from these social ills came to the police inspector portrayed by Rohitash Gaud with their cases where he would solve the cases in each episode and help them to fight for their rights and bring them justice.
The hit series came up with a total of 52 episodes telecasted every week from 2000 to 2001. Doordarshan National Network has always come up with a new idea regarding its show and, has always left its audience enlightened and inspired with the kind of shows it has made. Insaaf was also one of Doordarshan’s most popular and much talked about show. This show has not only entertained but inspired its audience to fight for the right. The audience loved watching this show as it was an informative show as well for them.
