Being a creation of Miditech, the reality game show ‘PokerFace’ got premiered on March 2, 2009, on Real TV. It is also an Indian adaptation of a U.K. based reality game show with the same name. Interestingly, Poker Face usually refers to Blank Expression, which may be the reason behind naming the show PokerFace: Dil Sachcha Chehra Jhootha. None other than the most pleasant and charming ‘Sharman Joshi’, who is known for acting in several hits like “3 Idiots”, “Golmaal”, and “Dhol”, hosted this reality game show. It ran for seven successive nights on TV i.e. it’s to be played for about a week to win the grand amount of One Crore Rupees.
Before India, about twelve different countries has aired the PokerFace, furrowed about six contestants in a quiz show based on knowledge of various subjects, against one another. The participants could also trick about their performance. Here, the show used to have five continuous questions in each round, except for the first one - where the contestant had to face eight questions. Out of those five questions, a participant needed to answer at least three questions within five seconds to lock their correct answers. Gold check marks along with red crosses used to determine the one with correct answers to the given questions.
After each and every round, the contestants were also given a chance to quit the game and return to home with their current prize money. In case any of them wished to exit, they had to stand up in front of some red buttons and press them for about ten seconds to confirm their execution. If none of the players opted for the chance to fold, the one with the least score had to be eliminated and go back with nothing in their kitty. It proved to be a game of deception as the players had to bluff about their performance either by boasting or by keeping their excitement quite low on a daily basis for winning the cash amount of Ten Lakh Rupees each day.
On the final day i.e. the seventh day of the show, the battle was between the experienced and brilliant ‘Dinesh Vohra’ and a confident ‘Freanahita Nair’. However, Dinesh Vohra won the first ever Indian Poker Face show and took the grand prize of One Crore Rupees home, while Freanahita became the first runner up but she had to go empty handed.
