Chamatkari Telephone, meaning The magical telephone, was an Indian animated television series that was considered one of the most popular shows of its time for children. It aired on DD national channel in the early 90s and had a gigantic success in terms of viewership. The show, because of its beautiful and imaginative writing became an instant cult. The show revolved around 3 kids; Sally, Meg and Jonathan who one day find a telephone that fulfills one’s wishes no matter how fantastical it may be. All one has to do is speak their wish into the mouthpiece of the phone. The kids soon figure this out and go berzerk.
They use the magical telephone to make their wish come true. Each episode, spanning thirty minutes, presented a new problem to the kids and the bunch used the help of the telephone to tackle the problem. This was the basic plotline of the show. As you can guess from reading the basic storyline of the show, it was primarily targeted at kids and they were its biggest audience. The show ended its run in the late 90s, much to the dismay of the people. The show, although stopped airing, still is considered precious by its viewers who revisit the show to relive the era and their childhood. The show has tremendous nostalgic value.
