Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar TV Serial - Doordarshan DD National (DD1)

Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar was a TV serial that was telecast on Doordarshan every Monday and Tuesday at 10.30 pm. The serial is a story of six school going students who study in a school and come across various experiences in life. 

Veteran actor Tom Alter played the role of a school teacher in Uttar Pradesh. He played the role of English teacher Samuel who helps students at every stage whether it is to boost their morale or even forget their personal problems. In this serial, he tells one of the students, Ali, to participate in the sport and even come back and join the school again when his father had asked him to take a break and help him in his personal business.

Actor Tom played sensitive roles earlier in Satyajit Ray or even Manoj Kumar films too. But this serial was a rewarding experience for Tom Alter. Dhruv Raj Sharma made a debut in this serial where he played a negative character. The serial had an impressive cast comprised of Dhruvraj Sharma, Anu Nain, Saksham Daima and Tanvi Chaturvedi. It was written by Taqi Imam and, produced and directed by Dilip Sood.

Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar is a story about the aspirations and ambitions, threats and turbulence, success and failures of today’s young India… today’s youth. The male characters that are cast as youths of a school were seen taking part in boxing, mix up with the girls, going to a picnic, fighting amongst themselves. Every episode had a new turning point to the story. The serial enjoyed high TRP ratings and was even considered the best youthful drama on Doordarshan.

The writer of the serial is Taqi Imam, and the cinematography credit was taken by Suhas Rao Tom. The series had changed its telecast timing after Oct 6, 2011, on every Thursday and Friday, and its telecast schedule was changed to 10.00 p.m..
