Anew format film slot –‘Bioscope’ was introduced on DD National during 2004. In this slot, a Hindi feature film is telecast in serialized form on Tuesday and Wednesday at 11 pm. Many classics of yesteryears have been shown on ‘Bioscope’ till now. Thus, a Hindi film would be divided into two half and would be telecast on DD National channel by a popular TV host on two respective days in a week.
Actress Rupali Ganguly was hosting the show; recently, another actress Tridha was a host of this program. Before, it was telecast on Monday and Tuesday. On the first day, the host would introduce the film and give a brief synopsis of the film and would even introduce the cast of the movie to the viewers. She would also read out the selected answer of the quiz which was asked in previous episode and list out the name of the winners.
On the second day, the remaining part of the film would be shown, and the host would provide some interesting facts of the second half of the movie to the viewers and when the film ends she would put forth a quiz from the movie that was telecast. The film of the next week is too announced, and its glimpses are shown in the telecast.
The latest movie that was screened in Bioscope was ‘Mere Apne’ which was a 1971 film directed by Gulzar. It was Gulzar’s first directorial venture and had Meena Kumari, Vinod Khanna and Shatrughan Sinha in lead roles along with Deven Varma, Asit Sen, Asrani, Danny, and Keshto Mukherjee. The music was by Salil Choudhury.
