In 2019 after the Indian government launched National Mission For Clean Ganga (NMCG), they launched a tv show named Rag Rag Mein Ganga to make Indian’s aware of the things related to the Holy river Ganga. Nitin Gadkari, who was a union water resources minister, launched the series. The show was aired on DD National from 2 Feb 2019. The show had Rajeev Khandelwal as its star who narrated the story.
It was directed by Divya Bhardwaj and distributed by DD National. The show had a total of 21 episodes. In the show, Rajiv started the journey from the Himalaya from where Ganga emerged and moved all the way following the trails of Ganga to the Bay. The show starts with Mr. Khandelwal visiting places of Himalaya related to Ganga and then telling different stories related to it. He shared the story of the origin of Ganga. He told how King Bhageeath did all the things to please goddess Ganga to come on earth. Then he told the story of Shiva and Ganga. Later, he moved on to other parts and told different things related to it. The show started its shooting in Uttarakhand. And told different stories about the holy river. Later it moved on to the other locations and told different things about the regions by which Ganga moves.
The show was shot in some of the most popular Holy temples related to the Ganga and are situated at the bay of Ganga River. It covered the temple of Raghunath, Ramkund, and NOI (Nakshatra Observatory institute). It was a travelogue that helped its viewers understand things about Ganga and its stories. In the show, they told the stories about Varanasi, a holy place famous for Ganga Ghat and Lord Shiva, then he moved on to telling the stories related to Rudraprayag, Devprayag, and other places as well. In the show, he sometimes asked several questions to the local people related to Ganga and its locality. He asked questions from tourists and local business people. Overall he started the story from Gangotri from where Ganga emerges and then told the stories moving from Allahabad Sangam to Alaknanda Sangam and other places till Ganga Sagar.
