Superhit Muqabla TV Show - Doordarshan DD Metro

 Superhit Muqabla was one of the most popular programmes of Doordarshan in 1990s. It was a countdown show of Hindi Film songs for one hour. The show was produced by Harish Thawani for Nimbus TV and Sports and directed by Sushil Dutta and Irfan Khan. The show became popular immediately on launch as Hindi Film Songs already had a craze among the viewers and also the presentation in early days was done by Baba Sehgal who presented the show in a very beautiful way to the audiences. Baba Sehgal is also a well known singer. 

With his baritone voice and suave pep talk, the show was a hit right from the day one. Later on, the show was presented by many hosts like, Ekta Kapur, Kruttika Desai, Gurudas Mann the famous singer again, Bali Brahmabhatt, Priya Arora, Shah Rukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Chunky Pandey etc. but the presentation of Baba Sehgal charted at the top. This was one of the first interactive programmes on TV and the ten songs to be played were selected by the polls sent by the viewers. The involvement of viewers was obvious as in those days responses had to be sent through Post Cards and the huge volume of cards proved the high popularity of the show.

The Superhit Muqabla was one of the most popular shows in the history of TV and was telecast on DD Metro channel of Doordarshan network from 1992 to 1994.

It made a strong comeback on DD National in Year 2004 with Baba Sehgal as Host, on every Sunday 9.30 PM to 10.30 PM
