Suron Ka Eklavya, which roughly translates to Eklavya of Music in English, is a new addition to the already existing list of music reality shows. Eklavya is a famous mythological character who is known for his selfless and unconditional love, respect, and dedication towards his Guru Dronacharya and had cut off his thumb to present him as the gift on his demands. Saibaba Telefilms has produced the show, who has previously financed several such programs like Antakshari, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Sur-kshetra, Voice of India, and India's Raw Star.
The show promises to be an extravagant affair and find India's most talented singer. Shaan has sung the title track while Swanand Kirkire has written it. Anuj Kapoor has given it the music. The makers claims that this show will be different from the others in its genre as it will audition only those people who have huge respect and adulation for Mohammad Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. Mohammad Rafi is an immensely successful playback singer. Kishore Kumar, who apart from being a singer was also an actor, director, producer, screenwriter, lyricist, and an accomplished music composer.
Lata Mangeshkar, who is also a singer and have even composed the music for some songs. Several state governments have also honored and awarded them. The makers will then categorize the selected singers into three groups or gharanas which the creators have named after the above mentioned three veterans. The participants will sing songs of the above idols have already sung. The one who manages to sing these songs to perfection while also not forgoing its original style will go forth in the competition.
Bappi Lahiri, Ismail Darbar and Jatin Pandit will be the judges. Bappi Lahiri, is a music composer and singer who apart from being a music director, was an actor, and a record producer. He is also known for his penchant for gold. Jatin Pandit is a music director who did music for many blockbuster movies like kuch kuch hota hai, dilwale dulhania le jayenge and more. Ismail Darbar is popular for his music compositions and is also a violinist. Apart from judging, they will also groom, guide and mentor the selected people.
Over the course, many guests will also be seen visiting the show. Currently, the search for the best Eklavya is going on. Everyone will need to tune into Doordarshan Channel to watch it. The channel decided to launch it with the intention to give it a major revamp in regarding image and for what it stands. The exact date of the premiere is not fixed as of now, but the buzz is that audiences will get to see it in the last week of June.
