Kabhi Saas Kabhi Bahu’ is a comedy series telecast on Doordarshan in the year 2008. It was telecast every Wednesday at 9 pm. Later, the time and day slot was changed to every Sunday at 9 pm. The story is of three generations of Awasthi family.
Main Frame Entertainment is the production House of the series for Doordarshan. The director of the series is Rajesh K Gupta. Himani Kapur sang the title song. Hema Chandni wrote a lyric of the song. The art director was Ajit Patnaik. The writer of the series was Ashok Patole. Ravi Chandran took care of the camera work. The sound director was Tanaz Yadav, and costume design was by Alka Mehta. The producer of the serial is Anupam Ghosh.
The entire cast of the series included Sushmita Mukherjee, Vije Bhatia, Shama Deshpande, Sonic Handa, Iqbal Azad and Abhijit Lahiri. It was a comedy sitcom that revolved around Dadi Maa, her daughter-in-law and grand daughter-in-law. These three women had represented three generations, and each one of them had an individual viewpoint towards every situation they handle. This difference in opinion creates a hilarious comedy situation for the viewers.
The story is like this; Hema is a middle-aged woman and she tried to be very independent in life and never became a slave to mother-in-law Sujata. When Hema’s son Mohit wants to get married, she does not approve this because Mohit can get married even after a few years. However, even her son Mohit does not accept Hema’s suggestion. Hence, Mohit gets married to Kaajal.
Now Hema has to double her efforts in two ways. On one side, Hema maintains her own independence from her mother-in-law Sujata and even demands strict obedience from her daughter-in-law Kaajal. Above all, Hema watches every time that Sujata or Kaajal do not team up with her. The series had a total run of 50 episodes.
