Jamegi Jodi.com TV Serial - 9X

Jamegi Jodi.com was a refreshing new-age comedy serial set with the cyber world as its background. The plot of the serial is that a cyber website, which goes by the name Jamegi Jodi.com, is being successfully hosted by a mother (played by Sulabha Arya) and daughter (played by Mona Vasu) with predictable results—they are successfully fixing up the wedding of total strangers through their website. The serial focuses on the issues that include traditions and modernity, love and arranged marriages and horoscopes versus the computer.

Jamegi Jodi.Com produced by Endemol India was the first romantic comedy set in cyberspace, and it aired on Thursday evenings at 8 pm on the 9X channel. Angad (played by Mihir Mishra) is the owner of a dot com matrimonial. Savita (played by Mona Vasu) owns Bandhan- a traditional matrimonial agency. Arch-rivals Angad and Savita are oblivious of the fact that they are actually dating one another online. While searching for a life partner both come across each other’s profiles and start chatting online.

This is the basic plot of the serial. The serial explores both the pros and the cons of both arranged marriages and love marriages. The serial tried to spread social awareness about dating and marriages. Jamegi Jodi.Com also happened to be the very first Indian TV serial which exclusively dealt with dating and marriage in the Indian society.
